  34. Selfing is the term used to describe a mating within a generation. All of the individuals from a previous mating are mated within the group.

  36. P1 refers to the parental generation. It is not unique in any way other than it is the initial cross made in the sequence of crosses you are studying.

  38. F1 designates the first filial generation. It arises when the P1 generation mates.
